Strong on your single leg and defense the kicks coming at you. Lift up your leg and check (block) the imaginary roundhouse kick coming towards you. Maintain good posture, balance, and poise. Lift the leg and flare it 45 degrees facing the kick. Chin is tucked in, shoulder is shrugged, and core is tight. Lower body moves as the upper stays still like a castle.
